These were round when they were minted and Hammer struck in the Tower of London. Through the ages and while underground it’s edges have been worn into a nearly octagonal design. The legend and ritual of the bridal wedding sixpence has been passed down in family tradition through out I England Scotland Ireland and Whales for near a thousand years. From Pendantandring This Tudor Rose coin pendant is original and it’s amazing. Rarely do we see the full image of the Royal Mint Tudor Rose next to the well-struck relief of Queen Elizabeth the First in such clear relief. This medieval coin pendant retains superb details in spite of its nearly 500 years of age. This was struck in a time of Knighted colonialism, Royal Siege, and a bold world-hungry English government whose powerful Navy sent brave Officers, Sailors, Privateers, and Colonists halfway around the world into the hands of fate. Besieged by storms and endless waves they colonized the New World and brought back Spanish treasure. This is an authentic and well-struck 27mm mint struck six pence coin of Queen Elizabeth I and the Royal Mint minted in the Tower of London by a method that included heated steel dies and hammered anvil blows. No two coins are exactly alike as they are individually struck by hand in a method that survived for thousands of years. But changes loomed on the horizon. It was about this time in history that milled coinage was becoming popular in France. Milled coinage had the effect of adding a security strip to the edge thereby making it harder to counterfeit the coinage of a realm. It would not be long before the English adopted the process. This authentic coin appears to have been clipped. It still has excellent details but the edges are not as large as the 27mm coin originally was struck. Approximately 30% of the coins of this era were clipped by silver clippers and counterfeiters. Coin cutting was a capital crime and was punishable by Death, but people still clipped coins for nefarious purposes. quality rare coin.
